For the first time ever, WaterAid is a Shorty Award nominee!

The Shorty Awards recognizes the influencers, brands and organizations that use interactive media to change the world. Organization awards are judged by a panel of experts in the advertising, media and entertainment fields.

#GiveAShit by WaterAid is nominated in two categories: Best Use of Emojis and Best in Non-Profit. 

The #GiveAShit campaign used poop emojis to strip 'Third World' problems from a geographic and social context, and elevated them as problems that deserve everyone's attention. The campaign offered a fun, light-hearted way to learn about an issue that has serious consequences for the 2.3 billion people around the world today who do not have access to safe and sanitary toilets.

The Eighth Annual Shorty Awards ceremony will be on April 11, 2016 in New York City. Finalists will be announced in mid-March.
