Faith-based initiatives
Our faith-based supporters raise awareness and support for WaterAid’s core mission by holding events that are informed by their respective customs, traditions, and holidays.
I learned a great deal from this experience. I learned that if you care enough, you can make a difference even as a young person like myself. 
See below for examples of various faith-based fundraising initiatives for WaterAid America.
St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish, Canton, OH
To raise awareness among St. Michael’s congregation of the dire need for clean water, and to raise funds to support the cause, the Social Concerns Committee of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish held a fundraiser by selling Christmas ornaments. In four weekends, they managed to sell 550 ornaments.

Alexander's Bar Mitzvah
Alexander requested the 210 people attending his Bar Mitzvah to donate to WaterAid and another charity, Mazon, selected by the Rabbi, in lieu of gifts.
Alexander commented:
“I learned a great deal from this experience. I learned that if you care enough, you can make a difference even as a young person like myself. With this project I was really able to play an active role in bringing about change and I really felt I was making a difference. I also got to see what goes in to making a difference and the type of effort and attention it requires.”

Fast-a-Thon
A fundraising dinner hosted by the Islamic Center at NYU (ICNYU), in association with the United Muslim Association student organization was held to benefit WaterAid America. The fundraising dinner, more popularly known as the Fast-a-Thon, brought approximately 600 non-Muslims from the larger NYU community together and asked them to fast for one day, followed by a communal meal and an evening of reflection and social awareness.
