$60 buys a family toilet. Toilets are something we often take for granted, but they play a vital role in keeping families safe from deadly diarrheal diseases. This gift will help a family to construct a brand new toilet, giving them somewhere to safely dispose of human waste as well as improving privacy so that people, especially women, can enjoy the dignity they deserve.
Before we had the latrine we defecated in the bush. Occasionally we got diarrhea or cholera. Everybody prayed they wouldn’t need the toilet in the daytime because we didn’t have any public latrines and you had to go to the bush but at this time of year there were no plants to hide behind. Now I can go whenever I want. I clean the latrine every morning .
