WaterAid joins UN-Water as a partner

The Super Hygiene Team

WaterAid is delighted to have accepted the invitation to become a partner of UN-Water, a mechanism that coordinates the water-related activities of the different UN agencies and other external organizations in the sector.

UN-Water plays a key role in monitoring the state and utilization of the world's water resources  by producing the following flagship reports: the World Water Development Reports, the WHO/UNICEF Joint Monitoring Programme Reports and the Global Annual Assessment on Sanitation and Drinking Water.

UN-Water also coordinates a number of UN Task Forces that tackle vital challenges in the water and sanitation sector.  WaterAid will join the UN Task Force on Sanitation.

The scale of the global and water sanitation crisis is huge.  Nearly 900 million people live without safe drinking water, while 2.5 billion lack adequate sanition.

WaterAid fully welcomes the opportunity to partner with UN-Water in improving the coordination of the international response to the crisis.
