Farewell to Patricia Dandonoli
WaterAid America has announced that Patricia Dandonoli is stepping down
as President & CEO, effective June 25.
WaterAid America was
established in 2004 and Dandonoli became the organization’s first chief
executive in March 2006. Prior to joining WaterAid, Dandonoli spent
over 25 years serving the nonprofit world in a variety of executive and
consulting roles.

Patricia Dandonoli and Gregory Hodkinson meeting the Benue State Commissioner for Water Resources on a trip to visit WaterAid's program in Nigeria.
"So many of us dream of
making a difference in the world in a tangible, meaningful way. The
opportunity to help establish WaterAid in the US gave me an
unparalleled chance to do so. Visiting impoverished communities in Africa
and Asia and seeing first-hand the impact of WaterAid’s work on
individual lives has been a privilege for me." said Dandonoli.
Gregory Hodkinson,
Chair of WaterAid America's Board, commented: "The board is
very grateful to Patricia for providing strategic direction and
leadership during our crucial early years. With her help, we have helped focus public attention on the global water and sanitation crisis, and mobilized
financial support for WaterAid's programs."
While
the search for a permanent successor is undertaken, Dr. David Winder
will serve as Acting CEO of WaterAid America beginning on August 3,
2009. Winder’s career has spanned the academic, non-profit and
foundation spheres and he has extensive experience in international
development in Latin America, Southern Africa, Southeast Asia and
India.
